About

morris-familyHi! I’m Nic and I have a knack for all things creative. Welcome to my nook of the internet, The Nic Knack Nook!

I’m a wife to the love of my life, Jeff; mom to a rotten little girl who will soon be 3, Kayanne; and a stepmom to two rotten big “boys,” Dakota (soon-to-be 22-years-old), who is newly a Marine (!!!), and Tanner (soon-to-be 20-years-old), who is kicking ass in college.

Ever since I was little, I’ve loved crafting. I remember my favorite Christmas present ever was a printer paper box that my mom covered in contact paper and filled with art supplies…some of which I still have! My mom also tried to teach me crochet when I was little and it just never clicked. But about 12 years ago, I decided to buy the “I Taught Myself to Crochet!” kit and I haven’t put the hook down since! The first project I made was a HUGE afghan for my husband’s great-grandmother, who was in a nursing home. It was an extremely colorful rainbow granny square afghan to brighten up her room. Then I rolled right into working on a birdhouse afghan as a surprise for my mom, who didn’t know I’d finally learned to crochet. I loved the look on her face when she opened the box and saw her new afghan. 🙂

Besides crochet, I like to paint, papercraft, and have an interest in scrapbooking (I’ve only created a couple pages). I also decorate cakes and love cooking, although I don’t do that near as much anymore with an extremely picky toddler setting the menu.

I attended UofL for my undergrad in business management and Indiana University Southeast for graduate school, where I acquired an MBA. I’ve worked in TV, as well as in marketing, and now work with a small design firm and freelance for any small businesses that need a hand. I love how I can be flexible and spend more time with my family rather than a typical 9-to-5, including making all the goodies I list in my shop!

You can find me on various social media sites and I’d love to hear from you about what you’re working on to further your creative self.

Thank you for being here!

Much love, Nic.
